Whole School in Action Open Morning | Friday 16 October at 9.30am.
You’ll understand when you visit our school... How we unlock the potential of our beautiful 22-acre site so that children learn and develop beyond the classroom. How we nurture independent thinkers who demonstrate curiosity, kindness and determination. How we prepare young people not just for their next steps, but for their Boundless Futures.
Join us at King Edward VI Preparatory School and Nursery for our Open Morning on Friday 16 October and experience our Whole School in Action. You will be welcomed to the main house by our Head, Rebecca Smith who will give a wonderful insight into life at KES Prep, and our approach to learning.
Following the welcome, families will be invited to explore the school:
- Tours of the school will be led by our Year 5 and 6 pupils, offering the opportunity to see classrooms, lessons and daily school life in action.
- Families with children interested in Nursery and Reception places will be shown to our Early Years and Pre-Prep areas, where they can find out more about our play-based learning facilities, and beautiful outdoor spaces.
The morning will conclude back in the Main House where refreshments will be available and our friendly team will be happy to answer any further questions.

Discover the Magic of Our Nursery with Our Free Tiddlers Stay & Play Sessions
Our free weekly Tiddlers Stay & Play sessions are the perfect way for children and their grown-ups to discover the magic of our Romsey Nursery. Set within the stunning 22-acre grounds of King Edward VI Preparatory School, these free sessions are open to the whole community. Join us for an outdoor session in our forest school on Tuesdays (from 15 September) or our original music and crafts session in the Nursery on Wednesdays. Term time only.

NEW! Tiddlers Forest Stay & Play | Tuesday from 10.15am to 11.30am
Join us on Tuesday mornings (from 15 September) for a new sessions of outdoor fun and exploration. Designed for children from 18 months to 4 years, Tiddlers Forest Stay & Play invites children and their grown-ups to enjoy a morning of adventure-led, outdoor fun. From crafting with leaves and twigs to getting messy with mud, Tiddlers Forest Stay & Play immerses children in the excitement of our beautiful rural setting. Whether you are a parent, grandparent or childminder, all are very welcome.
You do not need to book in advance; you can simply come to our Nursery building and sign in when you arrive. However, we would appreciate it if you could email our admissions team to let us know you are coming.
Please note: Arrival from 10am parking in nursery car park, be ready to leave promptly at 10.15am to walk to the woods. There are no toileting facilities in the woods - so please bring portable potty etc. Bring your own snack, 11.15am song / reflection around the fire circle, return to car park 11.30am.
Tiddlers Music and Crafts Stay & Play | Wednesday from 9.15am to 10.15am
Join us for our original, warm and welcoming stay-and-play session for younger pre-schoolers. Designed for children aged one and above, the original Tiddlers Music and Crafts Stay & Play includes time for purposeful play, fun activities, and a magical music session led by one of our specialist teachers. This is a relaxed and engaging opportunity to play, explore and enjoy our Nursery environment. Whether you are a parent, grandparent or childminder, all are very welcome.
You do not need to book in advance; you can simply come to our Nursery building and sign in when you arrive. However, we would appreciate it if you could email our admissions team to let us know you are coming.

Our Nursery at KES Prep in Romsey, Hampshire welcomes children into a nurturing environment designed for modern family life. With term-time and year-round places, wraparound care from 7.45am to 5.30pm, and up to 22 hours of funded childcare available each week, we provide flexibility for families alongside an exceptional early years experience.

At KES Prep, children begin their journey with us from age two in Nursery and grow through the school all the way to Year 6. You can find out more about each stage below.
Nursery
Discover our passion for giving children the very best start to their school journey. Our Nursery Manager, Amey Richmond, will be delighted to answer your questions while your child enjoys a relaxed stay-and-play session in our Nursery.
Explore our bright, welcoming classrooms, the spacious canopied outdoor play area, and Little Meadow — our brand-new outdoor classroom featuring a fruit tree orchard, insect hotels, den-building spaces, and a winding path to the farm. And be prepared: once your little one meets some of our friendly farm animals, they may never want to leave!

Pre-Prep (Reception and Year 1)
Step inside our Pre-Prep, home to Reception and Year 1, housed in a modern, light-filled building with two classes per year group.
Explore our classrooms, meet our children and teachers, and see how our creative and challenging curriculum inspires young learners. This is also a wonderful chance to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Pre-Prep, Jo Humphreys, as they share how we nurture confidence, curiosity, and a smooth transition into the next stage of education.
Lower Prep (Years 2, 3 and 4)
The Lower Prep years at KES Prep are full of excitement and opportunity, where children begin to take their next steps with growing confidence and curiosity. We warmly invite you to explore our classrooms, meet our pupils and teachers, and see how our broad and stimulating curriculum gently prepares children for the journey ahead.
This is also a wonderful chance to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Lower Prep, Lucy Tippett, about the distinctive advantages of a preparatory school education.
Upper Prep (Years 5 & 6)
In Upper Prep, the excitement of an inspiring, secondary-style curriculum helps children grow in independence and prepares them for the next stage of their education.
With specialist teachers across subjects, pupils benefit from passionate, expert staff who ensure every child is challenged and supported within a tailored curriculum.
