Supporting Charities
King Edward VI Preparatory School continues its commitment to supporting both local and national charities. Each year, our three Houses choose a charity to support, and over the past year we have focused on causes that align closely with the ages and interests of our pupils at KES Prep.
Charities have included Simon Says Child Bereavement Support, The Honeypot Children’s Charity and Alfie’s Wish. Fundraising efforts for these charities have involved a variety of school events such as cake sales, a Break the School Rules Day, donations during school occasions, and pupil participation in a triathlon.
At Christmas, we run our annual Tree of Wishes. Charities supported through this initiative included SCRATCH – Fighting Local Poverty, Baby Necessities Baby Bank and Honeypot. Children across all departments visited the Tree and selected a ‘wish’ from one of the charities. These wishes were then bought by parents and placed under the Tree before being delivered to the local organisations.
At KES Prep, we are proud to have a dedicated Charities Pupil Voice team – a group of children from across the school, from Year R to Year 6, who meet regularly to plan different fundraising activities.
In addition to supporting local causes, we have also contributed to national charities including Children in Need, Save the Children, Dress to Express and Comic Relief.
Further contributions came through donations for our annual Harvest initiative. The generous support of our school community enabled us to put together food boxes which were donated to the Romsey Food Bank.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ dedication, compassion and active involvement in supporting both local and national causes throughout the year.
