Award-winning author inspires young readers at KES Prep

Today, Year 4 pupils from KES Prep, Prince's Mead and Halterworth Primary School were treated to a special visit from local award-winning children's author Jenny Pearson. Winner of the Lollies (Laugh Out Loud Book Awards) and shortlisted for the Costa Children's Book Award, Jenny shared extracts from her latest book, How Not to Be a Pirate. Her good humour and engaging storytelling captivated the young audience throughout.

The children had great fun discovering their pirate names, learning pirate insults, searching for buried treasure and perfecting their very best pirate "Arrrr!" They also enjoyed the opportunity to ask Jenny questions about what inspired her to become a writer and how long it takes to write a book.

To the children's delight, Jenny then kindly took the time to individually sign copies of How Not to Be a Pirate.

Many thanks to our KES Prep Librarian, Mrs Abernethy, for arranging the visit and bringing everyone together for such a special event, and of course to the wonderful Jenny Pearson for making it such an enjoyable and memorable morning.
