KES GCSE Students Achieve Outstanding Results

20 August 2026

As the Preparatory School to King Edward VI School Southampton, we are proud to join them in celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results. Today's results reflect the academic ambition, resilience and independence that are the hallmarks of a KES education.

Among the standout achievements this year, we are pleased to announce that in 62% of the GCSE subjects taken — including Mathematics, Biology and English Literature — all pupils achieved grades 9-4 (A* to C).

Across all subjects:

66.7% of grades were 9-7 (A* to A)

85.2% of grades were 9-6 (A* to B)

98.5% were 9-4 (A*to C)

These results are particularly significant because they represent more than examination success alone. They are the culmination of a learning journey shaped by the KES i3 Learning Philosophy, which underpins teaching and learning throughout our family of schools, from Nursery and Prep School through to Senior and Sixth Form.

Commenting on the results, King Edward VI Head, Neal Parker said:

“At King Edward’s, we believe that the best education develops more than strong grades. Through our i3 Learning Philosophy, we encourage pupils to be curious, self-motivated and independent thinkers. Today’s results demonstrate the power of that approach, and we are delighted to see our pupils rewarded for their efforts.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated staff and supportive parents, whose encouragement and commitment have played such an important role in helping our pupils achieve their potential.”

Today’s outstanding results are the culmination of a journey that in many cases started here at King Edward VI Preparatory School and Nursery in Romsey. Through the Head’s Recommendation route to King Edward VI Southampton, we offer a seamless pathway for those pupils who choose to continue their education at our school. 74% of our class of 2026 were awarded the Head's Recommendation last summer, securing an early guarantee of a place at King Edward VI Southampton for Year 7 this September.
